• Channel 9318 (WVLR) moved from tp 31 at 61.5° to tp 12 at 110° and became available to Knoxville locals subscribers.
• KUPT 22 in the Lubbock TV market changed call signs to KWPT. (ANON)  It also changed affiliation from UPN to WB.
• KUPT LP 14 in the Lubbock TV market became available as the area's UPN station on channel 7945.

12/21/05

• Channel 9475 (formerly KNGFU) has been renamed WORLD (World Cinema) (ANON)
• 6 new test channels labeled "CHNL1-CHNL6" on channels 9874-9879.  Channels 9874-9877 are on tp 16 at 119°.  Channels 9878 and 9879 are on tp 19 at110°.  CHNL6 is currently showing "Current TV".  The rest are showing a Dish Logo. (ANON)

12/19/05

• Channel 580 came back to life a a while back.  Thanks to Edyem4ever for reminding me to include the change on the list.
• ULTRA HD 7478 moved from tp 5 to tp 15 at 61.6° (ANON)
• Channel 751 (Telesud) free preview ended today. (ANON)

• Channel 451 bounced back from tp18 at 119° to tp 24 at 110° (ANON)

12/15/05

• MSNBC, Bloomberg and ESPN News have been removed from the channel 100 6-channel matrix on many receivers and been replaced with Fox News, ESPN and CNBC.  This essentially means that the free preview on MSNBC and Bloomberg on AT60 is over and has been replaced by a free preview of Fox News.
• Yakima local stations KAZW (9373 & 851) and KTNW (9372) swapped transponder slots.  KAZW went from tp 3s3 at 119° to tp 6s1 at 110° while KTNW went from 6s1 to 3s3. (ANON)
• ESPN 2 HD (9425) is now being mirrored at 61.5° on transponder 2.  It has been on tp 19° for several weeks now.  Not yet available to subscribers
• Transponder moves on the HD channels 9400 (will list later)
• Kung Fu HD moved from channel 9485 to 9475 (Not available)
• A channel labeled (FAMLY) added to 9486.

12/14/05

• Sky Angel has replace American Family Radio (AFR) with America's Talk Satellite Network on channel 9760 (ANON)  This channel does program quite a few hours with AFR programming.
• Abu Dhabi TV is now available to subscribers on channel 768 at 121° (ANON)
• "TEST2" now uplinked to channel 113 tp 18 at 110°.   (ANON)  This channel currently contains "Fine Living" programming (Towlies/Anonymous). ---Unsubstantiated RUMOR ALERT--Retransmission consent time is coming up and it looks like Scripps TV channels are being held hostage for this channel. --/Unsubstantiated RUMOR ALERT
• "TEST" now uplinked to channel 151 tp 1 at 110°. (ANON)  This channel currently contains Outdoor Life Network (Towlies).  Looks like Dish and Comcast are in serious talks to return this channel back to the line-up.
• The Tennis Channel is now uplinked to channel 400 tp 18 at 110° (ANON)
• STP (Portuguese channel) is now uplinked to channel 650 on tp 31 and 29 on 61.5° and 148° respectively. (ANON)

    Beats the hell out of me. Some are saying this could a typo and in reality the Oklahoma City Pax/"i" station KOPX.  The channel position doesn't seem correct.  Will post here as soon as something can be confirmed.
    • UPDATE: ANON has informed me that the EPG name for this channel has been changed to KOPX.  So the mystery is solved and Chaddux is one again proved to be correct on both DBSTalk and Satelliteguys.

    KFPX TV 39 (Pax/"i") Newton, IA (Des Moines)
• The following HD channels have been removed due to the small riot over the proposed resolution caused on Satelliteguys and DBSTalk among the HD set.  I thought some people's heads would explode!  Dish, possibly in response to the reaction caused by the proposed lower resolution on HD channel,  has decided to provide 15 full resolution HD Voom channels rather than 21 channels in what Satelliteguys calls "HD Lite".  Charlie announced in his chat Monday that the content would all be there but among the 15 channels rather than 21 channels.  He went on to say that this would also result in less repeats of content.

• CLH added to channel 9638.  This is a Business TV channel available to specific subscribers.
• Replaced KCEB TV 54 which was expected to fill channel 8885 with KYTX DT channel 19.2 which is scheduled to be UPN beginning Jan 1.  (Chaddux)
• Bingo TV on channel 104 is history.  This channel nearly always shared bandwidth with channel 9900.

12/12/05

• Television Dominicana is now available to Dish Latino subscribers on channel 844 at 110° (ANON)
• Alternate Sports 6 (451) moved from tp 24 at 110° to tp 18 at 119° a few days ago. (RM)

12/11/05

• German TV Channel 725 will cease operations on 12/31/05.  German TV will be replaced with Deutsche Welle by the channel oweners.  Rumor has it that Dish will keep the channel.  However there is no official word at this moment.  Added a note to channel 725.  See www.germantv.info for details.
• PBS You (9402) is also ceasing operations on 1/31/06.  DirecTV is dropping the channel on the 15th.  Dish will be dropping the channel "after the holidays".  Added a note to the chart on 9402.  See http://www.pbs.org/pbsyou/ for details.

• After receiving a few e-mails I realized that I did not mention that on 12/7/05 Televisión Dominicana was added to tp 20 at 110°. (Edwin/Federico/ANON)  The changes were made to the list on 12/7.

12/8/05

• Channel 826 "La Academia" became available to subscribers today as a PPV channel for $14.99.  This is a temporary channel that follows a reality show 24/7.  The edited version of the show airs on Azteca America.  Once the production of the show ends for the season the channel will be removed.

12/7/05

• WTOKD channel 9305 (Fox) is now available to Meridian, MS locals subscribers (ANON)
• WCYBD channel 7619 (WB) is now available to Tri-Cities locals subscribers (ANON)
• Free Preview Channels 574 and 575 are now available to specific subscribers at 61.5° and 148° (ANON)

11/28/05

• Not a surprise to many...Fox Sports Pittsburgh 2 (431), essentially a mirror of FS Pittsburgh with different black-outs which is available in Western NY will be removed on 11/30/05.  Added a note to the listing.  (KT)

11/24/05 (HAPPY THANKSGIVING!)

• Channel 6002 has transformed from StarLite Lite Pop to the Sirius Holiday Channel.
• Channel 6062 has transformed from Roadhouse/Classic Country to the Sirius Country Holiday Channel
• and a reminder that channel 982 houses the Muzak Holiday Channel.

11/23/05

• Channel 595 at 61.5°/148° and channel 741 at 121° have had a name and content change from CH1RU (Channel 1 Russia) to TVCI (Center TV International).  It is unknown what will be done with channel 742 at 121° which reportedly also has TVCI uplinked but not available.

11/22/05

• Changed web link on KEYE channel 8251. (Larry)
• The WB and WB west channels are actually on channels 251 and 252, not 250 and 251.  (Joe)

11/18/05

• Lots of moves related to the WB Distant network channels:
  • WB and WB West have been added to channels 250 and 251 on transponders 18 and 22 respectively at 110° (ANON)  This year the WB finally qualifies as an FCC defined network and now qualifies for the same treatment as the big 4.  The assumption is that KSWB San Diego is WB W and WBZL Miami is WB East.
  • KSWB on channel 8800 which was on tp 22 at 110° has been removed.
  • WBZL on channel 8849 which was on tp 18 at 110° has been removed.
  • KSWB on channel 8796 for San Diego which was on spot beam tp 3s5 at 119° has been moved to ConUS tp 16 at 119°
  • WBZL on channel 8834 for Miami which was on spot bean tp 3s15 at 119° has been moved to ConUS tp 16 at 119°
    • The question I have is why not just mirror the two channels on tp 16 at 119° the way they do for the rest of the distant network channels?
• WCYB DT 5.2 also known as WB4 in the Tri-Cities is now uplinked to channel 7619 on tp 2 at 105°.  (ANON)
• XHRIO TV 2 from Reynosa, Tamaulipas, MX is now uplinked to channel 7664 on Tp 2s6 at 110°. (ANON)
• WJAN CA 41 in Miami is now uplinked to channel 8844 on tp 3s15 at 119°. (ANON)
• WTOK DT 11.2 Fox in Meridian, MS is now uplinked to channel 9305 on tp 2 at 105° (ANON)

11/17/05

• Transponders 9, 11, 13 and 15 at 61.5° came to life this morning.  These are the transponders that are now carrying the Voom21 channels that were uplinked yesterday.
• Added the names of the 11 HD channels uplinked yesterday in the 9400 range (ANON)
• Channel 580, International Preview channel is taking a break.  Currently showing Dish Logo and EPG says "off air"

11/16/05

• Fox Reality Channel, the reality channel with programs that have nothing to do with reality, is set to become available between 2 and 5pm eastern time today for all AT180 and higher subscribers..
• Holiday Music channel from Muzak is now available on channel 982
• ESPN Deportes has been removed from channel 141.  It is still available in the 800 range along with the rest of the Dish Latino channels (ANON)
• Fox Sports West 2 is in the process of moving from a spot beam transponder to a ConUS transponder.  Channel 411 has moved from a spot beam transponder at 119° to tp 25 at 110°.  For LA area subscribers with only a 119° dish can still get FSW2 on channel 408 which remains on the old spot beam. (ANON)
• Center TV International, a Russian language channel is now uplinked to channel 742 on tp 15 at 121°.  It is not yet available to subscribers. (ANON)
• ESPN 2 HD is now uplinked to channel 9425 on tp 19 at 129°.  It is not available to subscribers yet (ANON)
• The remaining 11 channels from the old Rainbow "VOOM 21" HD channels have been (or soon will be) uplinked to various transponders at 129° and 61.5° on channels 9473, 9475, 9477, 9485-9494. (ANON)  These channels currently only have placeholders at 61.5°  The actual programming is not uplinked at this time.  The transponders these channels are linked to at 61.5° are inactive as of this moment.
• 4 MPEG2 test channels have been uplinked to Channels 9936-9939 on tp 17 and 19 at 61.5°. (ANON)

11/16/05

11/10/05

• Fox Reality Channel (the reality channel with programs that have nothing to do with reality) is now uplinked to channel 190 on transponder 18 at 110° (anon)
• The Holiday Music Channel (don't say Christmas) is now warming up on channel 982 on tp 16 at 119°. (ANON)  It is not available on Dish receivers however the channel is available on legitimate FTA receivers now.  This channel will be available to Dish receivers by next Wednesday if precedent holds.
• Looks like Dish is getting ready to roll out WB east and west affiliates to qualified subscribers. 
  • KSWB from San Diego, CA is now uplinked to channel 8800 on ConUS transponder 22 on E*6 at 110°.(ANON)
  • WBZL from Miami, FL is now uplinked to channel 8849 on ConUS transponder 18 on E*8 at 110°(ANON)
    • These channels also remain on their "normal" channel numbers and spot beams.

• Canal Uno became available to Dish Latino subscribers this morning on channel 839 (ANON)
• MBN, a Korean channel, has been unceremoniously removed from the line up (651 @ 148° and 61.5° and 703 @ 121°
• The Katrina information radio channel has been removed from BTV 9650

• Reality TV (190) which apparently ceased operations in the United States a couple of weeks ago and only had a Dish slate and music on the channel has finally be removed from the line-up.  Reality TV is not to be confused with Fox Reality Channel.  Reality TV had programs like Cops and Real Stories of the Highway Patrol.  Fox Reality Channel has unscripted but outlined situational entertainment shows like Nanny 911. • Canal Uno Internacional has been uplinked to channel 839 on tp 25 at 110°.  This is a Spanish Language channel for Dish Latino.  It is not yet available to subscribers. (ANON)
• WBDJ (CBS) and WSLS (NBC) from Roanoke are now mirrored on channels 6226 and 6227 being prepared for Significantly Viewed status to a neighboring market.  They are not available to subscribers yet.

• Dish Network now lists College Sports TV (152) as part of AT120.  It was originally released as part of AT180 with a free preview on AT120 of undetermined length.  Today the free preview apparently became permanent.  A thread on Satelliteguys.US also has a dealer that mentioned a fax blast confirmed the move to AT120.

• SBS TV, a Korean channel on channel 650 at 61.5° and 148 as well as channel 702 at 121° is now off the air on Dish.  Acoording to THIS THREAD on DBSTalk the channel went dark on 10/1/05 due to "the contract running out".  The EPG now says "Off Air" and the channel has been removed from the Dish web site. • The Sirius radio channel moves mentioned on the 9/24 changes occurred at about 3:45am EDT today.  The streams are still not completely changed over (Stones are still on Horizons World Beat as of 4:35am) but all the channel moves in the EPG are done. No transponder changes per se.  The streams moved channel number but remained on the same transpoder.
• Channel 9800, a a PPV sports channel directed at commercial establishments is now visible on mere mortal's EPGs, however it is still not available to residential customers. (ANON)
• After 2 years, the NHL channels 540-558 are now visible on subscriber's EPG screens. (ANON)
• Channel 231, a slate put in place for a couple of months notifying subscribers that TBS has moved to channel 139 has finally been removed from tp 10 at 119°

• Corrected an error made a while ago.  I inadvertently listed many of the South Bend, IN locals (7090-7096)  as being upliked and available  at 129°.  In reality it should have been the Sioux City, IA locals (7190-7196) that should have been added at that time.  The South Bend locals have not been moved or mirrored.  Sorry for the confusion.  Thanks to PSmith (in a post on DBSTalk), ANON and anon for catching the error.
• A TON of channels at 61.5° and 148° have been mirrored and are now available to subscribers at 129°.  This is being done to comply with the FCC (SHVREA congressional act) 1 dish rule which goes into effect June 2006.  It states that all local channels from any one TV market are to be available using one satellite DISH.   All the folloing channels are still available on their 61.5° and 148° slots.   It's a long list...thanks to (ANON)

• WLII channel 11 Univision in Puerto Rico is FINALLY available to Puerto Rico locals suscribers.  Univision (national channel) had been blocked out by this channel.  The number 1 Spanish language network in the US is now available to locals subscribers in Puerto Rico (ANON)
• CSTV (College Sports TV) is now available to AT120 and up subscribers on channel 152.  This channel is on the AT180 package but it is in free preview for AT120 (ANON)
• Dish's web site shows that NFL Network is in the AT120 package. (ANON/Brian post on DBSTalk and Satelliteguys)
• KTBS and KMSS from Shreveport, LA TV market are now available to "significantly viewed" areas in the Tyler,TX TV market on channels 6203 and 6204. Most receivers will also map them to channels 66 and 69 (ANON)
• KSAT and KENS from San Antonio, TX TV market are now available to "significantly viewed" areas in the Austin TV market on channels 6205 and 6206.  Most receivers will also map them to channels 66 and 67(ANON)
• WRTV and WTHR from Indianapolis are now available to "significantly viewed" areas in the Terre Haute TV market on channels 6208 and 6209.  Most receivers will also map them to channels 66 and 68. (ANON)
• WNDS channel 50 in NH (Boston TV market) changed its call sign to WZMY (ANON)

• RUMOR ALERT:  A post on both Satelliteguys.us and the host site DBSTalk.com states that College Sports TV currently uplinked, but not available to subscribers on channel 152 will become available to AT120 and up on a "free preview" on September 7 (Tomorrow).  The preview would continue for an undetermined period of time, but the channel would eventually end up on the AT180 package.  Keep in mind that Dish generally activates channels between 2 and 5pm Eastern time.
• According to Lingsat (www.lyngsat.com ) and a listing posted on Satelliteguys.US and DBSTalk.com the  uplinked to Sioux City at TP 5 at 129° with no SID.  Listings added next to the existing channel numbers.  Though the Lyngsat listing has two errors right now, they are generally correct so the listing has been added here.

• It is being reported on www.satelliteguys.us that Equator HD and Animania HD are NOT available at the 129° location.  They are still being uplinked to channels 9471 and 9474 but not visible to legitimate subscribers.   Please keep in mind that NONE of the channels at 129° have officially been released to the public.  All the channels at 129° could come and go as Dish finalizes the line-up before they release the channels.
  • UPDATE: According to a reliable source and legitimate subscriber I am told that all 10 Voom channels are indeed available from 129° using a Dish 6000 receiver and single dish pointing at the satellite.
• 9650 Business TV was added to Tp 8 at 61.5w. It is not available to subscribers at this time. (ANON)
  • UPDATE: This channel is The United Radio Broadcasters of New Orleans audio channel.  It is available to all with an FTA MPEG2 receiver and to specxific subscribers.  Most standard Dish receivers cannot see this channel nor is it listed in the EPG. (anon/ANON)

• The 6200 channel number locals mystery is solved.  SIGNIFICANTLY VIEWED CHANNELS ARE HERE!  These are the first of what I am sure will be quite a few.  The following channels are available is many parts of the following markets (verified by checking the Dish web site.  Notice the local sections now have "SV" divisions):
  • WJLA, WUSA and WRC Washington, DC are now available (ANON) to "significantly viewed" areas in the Baltimore locals area on channels 6200-6202 and mapped to channels 66-68 on most receivers.
  • WCTV Thomasville (Tallahassee) is now available (ANON) to "Significantly Viewed" areas in the Albany, GA TV market on channel 6211 and mapped to channel 67 on most receivers
• NOTE ABOUT SV:  Remember that "Significantly Viewed" channels from adjacent markets are not always available to the entire neighboting TV market.  If you live in the eastern edge of the Baltimore market, you may not be eligible to get the Washington Significantly viewed channels.
• KMOV and KSDK from St. Louis are now mirrored on channels 6241 and 6242.(ANON)  Not available to subscribers yet.
• Fe TV was replaced by HGTV on channel 9720 at 61.5° as promised by Sky Angel. (ANON)

• As of this moment there are no signals coming from 129° Echostar 5.  All the activity reported is strictly from the system tables which tell the receivers where to look when a channel number is selected.  There was  very brief activity at 77° Echostar 4 mirroring Portland locals ( the way it did at 157°).  This  is not listed at this time.  Once the info show up on the system tables or the signal is constant, the info will be listed.
• Channel 8084 WNVT was incorrectly listed as analog channel 53.  This channel went out of existence some time back.  It is in reality the main channel of WNVT DT 30. (LS - 8/5)
• Incorrectly listed D1000 as channel 9900.  It should have read 9901.  (anon - 8/5) That's what I get for rushing the changes. :-)
• Sahara  (ch 797 @ 121° and 624 @ 61.5° and 148°)and Samay (ch 798 @ 121° and 584 @ 61.5° and 148°) are now available to subscribers.  These channels are in free preview mode at 121°. (VV - 8/10)

• Daystar channel 9408 has been removed since it is now redundant.  (8/10).   At one time the channel was available nationwide.  A successful suit from Sky Angel forced Dish to remove the channel from national distribution.  The channel was only available to areas where a local Daystar TV channel was available.  Over the last few weeks, Dish has added the local channels to each market making this channel unnecessary.
• Removed footnote 15 which read: "(15) As of 10/21/04 this channel is only available to subscribers that live in a TV market area that has a local Daystar TV owned or affiliated TV station.  This was done at the request of Dominion Sky Angel which claims (rightfully so according to the courts) exclusivity on religious programming.  This is due to a long term contract between Dish and Sky Angel."
• Rave HD available at 61.5° on channel 9470 is now also uplinked to channel 9470 at 129° tp 9 but not available to subscribers. (8/10)

• It's official, Sky Angel released their newsletter today stating that Fe TV (9720) will be removed in late August (presumably 8/24)  to make room for HGTV.  HGTV will be coming on Sky Angel in "late August".   The newsletter also says that Sky Angel will be working with Fe TV to bring specials to the Latino audience on "other Sky Angel Channels".
• Sky Angel has announced that Hallmark Channel will be moved from channel 9713 to 9729 in "late August".  Added a listing for the new location and marked the old location in "red".

7/31/05

• According to Sinclair, Dish Network and Sinclair have reached a long term agreement for retransmission consent of local channels.  A short statement with no other details was published HERE.  The statement only ways the following: "Sinclair is pleased to report that it has entered into a new long-term retransmission agreement with EchoStar pursuant to which DISH satellite network subscribers will continue to receive the quality programming on all Sinclair stations. "
• Removed the red background from all the Sinclair owned or controlled stations.

• Alter TV, apparently a Greek channel, has been uplinked to channel number 664 at 148° and 61.5° on tps 25 and 12 respectively (ANON)
• Channels 540 and 541 were renamed NHL from the previous PPV designation and hidden from subscribers.  (ANON)
• A Business TV channel BTVIP has been added to channel 9639 on tp 31 at 121°. (ANON)  It is not known for certain what this channel is, but it is reported that there is no audio or video stream associated with the channel.  The IP names suggests this is a data stream channel.  That is the way it will be listed until otherwise proven. • The NBA League Pass channels 562-572 which were hidden to all but NBA LP subs are now hidden to all subscribers (ANON)
• The PBS National channel mirrors were tuned on to local package subscribers in the following markets:

• Juneau, AK local ABC, NBC, Fox, PBS and AK Gavel-To-Gavel are now available to local area subscribers at 110° new Alaska Spot Beam. (ANON)  CSRs may not be able to process orders for local channels until 6am EDT Thursday.   Dish now carries all local markets from non-contiguous states.

• The EPG names on the three "new"/replacement channels on Sky Angel have finally been changed and the EPG data is now available to subscribe.  The channels have been available for over a month.  In one case several months. (ANON)
  • Channel 9713 was listed as DAY (Daystar).  It is now HMLK (Hallmark Channel)
  • Channel 9718 was listed as INSP (Inspiration Network).  It is now listed as FNC (Fox News Channel)
  • Channel 9730 was listed as GMT (Gospel Music TV).  It is now listed as HMC (Hallmark Movie Channel)

• WIXT channel 9 in Syracuse (channel 7625 on Dish) changed its call letters to WSYR. (Canadian Cable & Sat. Database/anon)  This change occurred in April.  Dish Network still has the EPG of WIXT.
• TBS Superstation which is now on channel 230 is now being mirrored on channel 139.  It is not yet available to subscribers (ANON)
• HDTV Test channel 91. 92, 93 and 94 have been removed from 148° tp 31 (ANON)
• A bunch of channels called "Free" numbered 1-9 appeared all over the grid and seem to be targeting our friends with the eye patches and parrots on their shoulders.  There is one channel mirrored on channel numbers 123, 154, 196, 206, 299, 308 and 324.  The one channel on all these channel numbers originates from 119° tp 10.  It is showing something called "Pirate TV".  This is Dish's channel telling pirates the error of their ways. These channels should only be visible to all the "Special" people who have packages they magically don't have to pay for.(info by ANON, commentary by TNGTony)

• WFXU TV 57 Live Oak on channel 9295 changed from a UPN station to a WB station back on April 1, 2005.  The CBS Digital affiliate now has a UPN sub-channel to take its place. (AG)  WFXU is a WB 100+ station which reportedly has the same content as all WB 100+ cable stations.

• Pax TV is beginning its transformation to "i" Independent TV.  The "i" logo is starting to show up on screen and the web site has been changed to reflect the new programming.  They also have a new web url http://www.ionline.tv .  Changed all the references to PAX on the chart to "i".  The locals page and the individual satellite sub-set pages will be changed soon.

• Trace TV channel 752 was removed from tp 23 at 121°.  This channel is still uplinked to 61.5° and 148° on channel number 590 but it is not yet available to subscribers. (ANON)
• La Academia, a channel devoted to a single reality program that has ended was removed from channel 826 tp 16 at 110°. (ANON)
• Great Falls Montana locals KFBB (ABC), KRTV (CBS)  and KTGF (Fox--placed in the NBC slot by Dish) along with a mirror of PBS XD are now uplinked to channels 8850-8856.  The local channels are on transponder 18° at 148°.  PBS is a true mirror of channel 249 and is on 119° tp 8.
• KTBY Fox from Anchorage is now uplinked to channel 9381 (Juneau locals range) on 110° tp 8 Alaska Spot Beam. (ANON) It is not yet available to subscribers.  There are no local Fox affiliates in the Juneau area.
• Test channel (WTEST) is now uplinked to channel 9596 on tp 23 at 148° (ANON)
• Casper, Wyoming local ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox are now available to local area subscribers on channels 7950-7953.  The local PBS is not yet available. (ANON)   CSRs may not be able to process the locals order until 6am Eastern Thursday.
• Bismarck, ND local NBC and PBS are now available to local subscribers on channels 7966 and 7970.  (ANON).  CSRs may not be able to process the locals order until 6am Eastern Thursday.
• WYDN (Daystar) channel 8783 is now available to subscribers in the Boston TV market. (ANON)  This channel is on the 61.5° satellite.  Boston locals subscribers that want this channel and do not have a dish pointed at 61.5° are entitled to a FREE dish, and FREE installation by order of the FCC.  Call 1-800-333-DISH to set up your free install.  There are a total of 7 Boston area channels at 61.5°.

• Fairbanks, AK locals are now available to subscribers from the new 110° spot beam on TP 8 on channels 8292-8298.  It is possible that the CSRs will be unable to process orders for locals in Fairbanks until 2am local time (6am EDT). (ANON)
• Trace TV, apparently a French language urban TV channel, is now uplinked to channel 590 on transponder 12 at 61.5°, transponder 25 at 148°, and to channel 752 on transponder 23 at 121°.  This channel is not yet available to subscribers. (ANON)
• One of the missing Daystar channels is now uplinked to channel 8783.  WYDN Boston is now uplinked to transponder 31 at 61.5°.  This channel is not available to subscribers. (ANON)
• To make room for the above channel, WAGV TV 44 (Ind) Harlan, KY was removed from Dish channel 9317.  This channel was never made available to subscribers (ANON) Reports also state that there was never a real channel there.  Space was being left open for this channel that never provided Dish with a "good quality" signal for Must Carry status.
• WVUT TV 22 (PBS Vincennes, IN) is now available to Terre Haute local subscribers on channel 7906.
• Sirius channel 6097 which was Vacation Music and replaced by Buffett's Margaritaville radio last week has been removed from the EPG.  This channel is now in the engineering mode soon to vanish. (ANON)

• Channel 6097 "Vacation Music" has ceased to exist and has been replaced by channel 6098 "Radio Margaritaville"  Currently on channel 6097 is an audio prompt "Attention, Attention vacationers:  We'll soon be moving to a new tropical location.  Join us and escape to a new destination:  Radio Margaritaville.  Change your latitude and your channel to sirius 98 right now!" along with a song title saying "Join us on channel 98?"  The EPG says "moving to chnl on June 15th"  Channel 6098 is on transponder 12 at 119°.  (ANON) It became available at 7:30pm eastern today.

• Sky Angel's transformation from a "preacher at the pulpit" channel provider to a true family programming provider took another step today.  Daystar has finally been yanked from the line up.  In its place there is a slate stating: "New Channel Coming Soon: The Hallmark Channel! for information go to http://www.skyangel.com/hallmark ".  KSBJ "God Listens Radio" is the music bed behind the slate.

• Channel 9730 Gospel Music TV is next on the "yank" parade.  It is slated to be replaced by Hallmark Movie Channel.  As of this instant GMT is still there, but the EPG says "Special Programming".

• Dish Network and the Sinclair Broadcasting Group are currently having difficulties reaching retransmission consent for 61 stations in 38 TV Markets.  Sinclair has stated that they will not allow Dish to carry their stations if a deal is not reached by June 1.  Keep in mind that DISH IS NOT PULLING THE STATIONS.  Sinclair is threatening to deny retransmission consent which means that Dish cannot, by law, rebroadcast the stations until Sinclair grants permission.  The affected stations are the following:

• A happy little surprise for Sky Angel subscribers.  Fox News Channel has been added to the line-up on channel 9718.  The EPG still says INSP, but the programming is Fox News Channel.  A Sky Angel subscription is currently $12.99 a month.

• WMUR TV 9 in Manchester is now being uplinked to channel 8784 at 61.5° tp 31.  The spot has been waiting for the channel for several years.  This channel is not yet available to subscribers.(ANON)
• Channel 7865 labeled KSWOD is a faux call signal for KSWO's secondary digital channel in Lawton, OK.  Looks like the call letters were changed to to KKTM which is the low power TV channel 17 in the area (Altus, OK) with the same content.. (ANON)

4/8/05

• Added WMUR TV 9 Manchester, NH (Boston TV Market) to the chart. RUMOR ALERT--RUMOR ALERT -- I have received word from some one I trust that HE has received word  that Dish is receiving WMUR at the Boston POP via fiber and that Dish network has been receiving WMUR's signal at the uplink center in Cheyenne.  This has been going on for less than two weeks.   WMUR  is NOT, repeat NOT uplinked to the satellites at this time that I can tell unless it is hidden in one of the test channels.   Remember I and most of the (ANON) contributors cannot see these channels, we can only see the data from the EPG.  WMUR was previously listed on channel 8784, so that is where it has been placed with a question mark and a (9) Rumor.  Speculation on my part on the delay...final ruling on WMUR status in other markets (Portland and Burlington) as well as the standard month-long minimum quality control to test the signal.
• While I was at it, I removed the (9) from channel 8361 WPTO 14 Oxford (Cincinnati market) and replaced it with a (14) This channel is not coming any time soon, but it was previously tested at that location.

• At 5am EST today the east feeds of the Starz and Encore Channels officially changed their names.  The western feeds changed their names at 8am EST (or 5am PST).  We know this because of the HUGE logos on the screen during the ENTIRE friggin' movie is there to remind us.  To review:

  • KAZH Houston is now duplicated on transponder 16 at 110° and available on channel 849°
  • KTNC is now mirrored and available on channel 850
  • KAZW is now mirrored and available on channel 851
• Added colors to channels 825 & 826 to graphically display that TV Azteca (13 Mexico City) is being removed and Azteca America is being added.
• Footnote 7 added.  Azteca America (826) will be available to all Dish Latino subscribers EXCEPT in Houston, San Francisco and Yakima where their local TV Azteca affiliates will become available in the DL package instead of the national feed.  Dish Latino subscribers in Reno and Omaha will LOSE TV Azteca all together due to the  local affiliates refusal to allow Dish to show their programming.

• Channel 127 is now showing tax information on the proposed Kentucky satellite tax and encouraging Kentucky subscribers to contact their State legislators to stop it.
• Channel 408 has been added to tp 25 at 110°.  This channel is labeled TEMP1 (ANON).  It is reported to be showing the YES Network.(TJ)  This channel is NOT available to subscribers.  Given what happened on the previous TEMP1 at 127 with Oxygen, no one should hold their breath.  But this does mean that Dish is trying to reach a deal.

• WEVU CA 4 (Yet another low power UPN affiliate that is NOT the Cincinnati UPN affiliate subscribers have been waiting for for 5 years with the excuse that "Dish does not add low power TV channels.")  has been added to the Dish Line-up.  WEVU-CA 4 is now available to Ft. Myers, FL local subscribers on channel 9220 tp 1 spot 5 at 119°. (ANON sans rant)
• WMPN PBS Jackson is now included in the Meridian, MS locals package on channel 9308.  (ANON)  This is in lieu of WMAW channel 14 which is a full time repeater of WMPN.  Channel 9803 is labeled WMAW in the EPG.  WMPN is also available a la carte statewide in Mississippi.

• South Asia World Free Preview is over this weekend.  (ANON/David) This channel is available either a la carte or packaged  with American Desi
• Channel 599 (International Preview Channel) is now only available to ZEE TV subscribers.  Currently on this channel is TARA TV.  This preview is scheduled through 2/15.  On 2/16 Ary One World is scheduled to be on the free preview channel 599.
• Channel 9500 (not-so) "Instant Weather" on all Open TV capable receivers is being removed soon.  There is a weather feature on Dish Home channel 100 on most receivers..  This is being done to open up a block of channels for something else and to combine all open TV features in the Dish Home portal at channel 100.

• Channel 604 (61.5°  148°) and channel 737 (121°) Kino Polska is no longer in free preview mode (anon)  This channel is available in the new Polish Super Pack or A La Carte.   Also changed the package info on all the Polish channels to reflect the 5 options available.

Groundhog Day 2005 (Phil says 6 more weeks of winter)

• Gainesville Florida locals are now available to local subscribers on channels 7790-7796. (ANON)  The package consists of the local ABC, CBS, Fox and PBS.  There is no NBC affiliate in this TV Market.
• CTS Korea is now uplinked to channel 709 on tp 21 at 121° (ANON)
• WZRB UPN in Columbia, SC is now being uplinked to channel 7255 on tp 5 at 105° (ANON)
• WMAW PBS in Meridian, MS moved from 105° to 110° on channel 9308.  (ANON) This channel is now strictly a mirror of WMPN Jackson.  WMAW is a full time repeater of MPN.
• RAI Radio is now available to subscribers on channel 598 at 61.5°/ 148° and channel 729 at 121°.
• The German channel ProSieben is now available to subscribers on channel 726 at 121°
• Asia FM is now available to subscribers on channel 810 at 121° (ANON)
• Springfield, MO Fox station had a name change from KDEB to KSFX on channel 7223 (ANON)

• Channel 7791 WGFL TV 53 Gainesville Florida had a channel mapping change from the OTA channel number 53 to the cable channel number 4. (ANON)  The channel is known as "CBS 4" and it apparently asked Dish to put it on the alias channel number.  This channel is not yet available to subscribers.  The "real" channel number for WGFL is 7791 however it will map to channel 4 on most Dish receivers as well when it becomes available.

• Thanks to persistent research by (anon)  the true identity of channel 706 has been found.  CYRTV stands for China Yellow River Television and it replaced Shanxi TV.  It is unknown if this is a programmer's change or if it was Dish's change.

• EPG Name changes today. (ANON)
  • 195 was DWNGS (Discovery Wings).  Changed to MLTRY (The Military Channel).  The actual program change from Discovery occurred 1/10/05
  • Channel 676 was JIATV (Jiangsu TV) changed to JIC (Jiangsu International Channel)
  • Channel 677 was SHANG (Shanghai TV)  changed to DRAGN (Dragon TV)  Same channel, different name.
  • Channel 695 and 884 was CCSPF (China Central Spanish & French) changed to CCEF (China Central Espańol / Français)
  • Channel 706 was SHANX (Shanxi TV) changed to CYRTV (Beats the hell out of me! - The Shanxi TV link is in Chinese and it works)
• Sirius Music Channel Shade 45 (6045) finally was made available to all AT120 and higher subscribers. (ANON, Anon)
• WSRE PBS channel 23 is now available to Mobile TV market local subscribers on channel 7357 (Rob, ANON)
• New Abilities TV (9414) a pubic interest channel that never made it to the subscribers was removed from the 61.5° and 148° satellites today.
• KMOH TV 6, a Spanish language independent in the Phoenix TV market was uplinked to channel 8338 at 119° transponder 7 spot 6. (ANON)  This channel was possibly to transponder 7 at 157° as well but that is unconfirmed.
• WEVU-LP 4 is now being uplinked to channel 9220 at 119° transponder 1 spot 15.  Another low power UPN affiliate is added and STILL Cincinnati doesn't get the truly independently owned UPN affiliate WBQC 38.  Dish is STILL the only multi-channel carrier in the area that refuses to carry this channel in any form..

• Channel 431 added to the line up with a mirror of Fox Sports Pittsburgh (channel 428) however the EPG lists this channel as "FOXP2".  (ANON) Guess...a new feed for western NY no longer served by Empire Sports.
  • UPDATE:  This channel is now available to former Empire Sports subscribers.
• Changed the hyperlink on channel 726 from the German ProSieben channel to the US version. (Arne)

• A few additional channels are being mirrored and  tested at 157°.  The following channels have been duplicated on this chart: 102 (TV Guide) tp11, 323 (Show Beyond) tp11, 8334 (KFLT Flagstaff) tp 7  (P Smith @ DBSTalk and www.lyngsat.com)  Essentially all the channels on 110° tp 11, 119° transponder 1 spot 3 and 119° transponder 7 spot 6 are mirrored at 157° tp 1, 7 and 11.  These channels are not available to subscribers at 157°.
• A slight format change was suggested about a year ago.  I finally took the advice and combined duplicate channel numbers.  It is especially noticeable in the 600 channel range.

• Empire Sports (channel 432) was removed by Dish Yesterday.  The channel is still listed in the EPG, but the programming consists of an informational slate: "Empire Ceasing Operations.  Empire sports Network has announced it will be ceasing operations. As of Friday, January 21st, Empire will no longer be available on DISH Network. We appologize for the inconvenience"  The channel is still listed on this chart in red background until Dish removes the slate. (anon / Jason)
• I received another long list of updates and corrections from C for the locals page.  As with the last update, a couple of them also apply to this list.
  • KCBU TV 32 (8546) independent from Provo was sold to Univision changed its call letters to KUTH.  Univision owned KUTH 12 in Logan, UT changed its call letters to KCBU and is now a repeater of KUTH.  Changed the call letters on the listing, and removed the link to an old web site perpetually under construction for a station that no longer exists.  However the EPG name remains the same.

• Thansk a million to C who sent me dozens of local corrections and updates for the locals page on the EKB.  A few updates affect the Dish list as well.
  • Honolulu channel KIKU (8908) is now a secondary UPN affiliate. KFVE (8904) is no longer a secondary UPN affiliate.
  • The listing on this chart for KQFX (7453) was incorrect.  The correct low power stations that make up this faux channel are now properly listed.
  • KTYO (7590) is changed its call letters to KTDO Oct 1, 2004.  Since this channel is not carried by Dish and only an EPG stream is dedicated to it, they have not corrected the EPG.
  • KWBS (7228) Eureka Springs, AR (Springfield Market)  became KWFT TV and serves Fayetteville, AK (Ft. Smith Market) This station also has added a repeater KWFT-LP in fort Smith.  These stations are WB affiliates.
  • WLMT (7170) UPN Memphis is now a secondary WB affiliate as well.
  • KDEB (7223) Fox Springfield, MO will change its call letters to KSFX soon.  Added note to station name
• Empire Sports (432) has announced that it is ceasing operations effective "mid March" 2005.  Added note to channel listing and highlighted it red.
• INSP has been confirmed leaving the Sky Angel Line-Up (look at the wording...SA is not dropping the channel, INSP is leaving) effective some time in February 2005,  Added note and highlighted channel red.

(ANON)  This channel requires a second dish pointed at 148°.  Spokane local subscribers are entitled to a FREE Dish, FREE installation and any equipment necessary for the installation provided for FREE on request from Dish Network.  This is an FCC regulation.  Call 1-800-333-DISH to order the FREEEEEEEEE Dish (No strings attacked as long as you subscribe to locals at the time you order the dish).  If the CSR's response is not "When would you like the dish installed?" or something like it, call the FCC to report the violation.
• Channels Temp2 and Temp3 have been removed.  These channels were airing MoviePlex and Sundance Channel but were never  available to subscribers. (ANON)
• Added a second Channel 9999.  This one is labeled "ISG".  It is coming from 110° transponder 29.
  • Update...Dish Info channel 9999 on tp 11 at 119° is no longer in the system.  It is not know exactly when it was removed. (ANON)

• Removed "Formerly Fox Family" from ABC Family listing (180).  The name change occurred 11/10/2001.  Fox Family was formed when Fox bough  "The Family Channel" from Pat Robertson in 1997.  Until 8/1/88 The Family Channel was called  CBN (Christian Broadcast Network).  One of the conditions of Robertson's sale of the channel to Fox is that the 700 Club be shown in perpetuity as long as the Robertson Family controls the program.
• Removed "Formerly Odyssey" from The Hallmark Channel (185).  The name changed occurred 8/5/01.  Odyssey was previously called The Faith and Values Channel.  Vestiges of F&V are still on Hallmark today
